Roots Al Marmoom

Designing the trophy for the Al Marmoom Film Festival 2024 in collaboration with Dubai Culture offers a unique opportunity to blend modern aesthetics with the rich cultural and natural heritage of Dubai, particularly inspired by the Al Marmoom Conservation area. This region, known for its diverse ecosystem of desert plants, animals, and environmental features, provides a profound backdrop for the design.
The concept of deep roots hidden beneath the desert soil holds symbolic meaning. Just as the roots of a tree provide stability and nourishment, they symbolize our connection to heritage, values, and the past. These roots serve as a reminder to stay grounded in our origins as we grow and evolve, reflecting the balance Dubai has maintained between its rich cultural history and its forward-looking ambitions.
The trophy would be crafted using glass, symbolizing transparency, clarity, and openness, which aligns with Dubai’s modern vision. The transparent nature of glass allows the intricate roots within to be visible, symbolizing how Dubai’s deep cultural roots continue to shape its future. The roots, delicately embedded within the glass, represent the strength and depth that connect the past with progress, offering a powerful visual metaphor for growth, transformation, and continuity.
